Refuge Ceremony

23 May 2024 - 23 May 2024

Cost: £0.00

Venue: Samye Ling

Abbot Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche will conduct a Refuge Ceremony in Samye Ling on the auspicious day of 23rd May 2024.  Anyone who wishes to formally take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha is welcome to take part.

An explanatory talk will be given by a member of the Sangha before the ceremony.

This ceremony is mainly intended for people who wish to take Refuge for the first time.  However, those wishing to renew or confirm their Refuge commitment are also welcome.

There will also be the opportunity to take precepts - whether you are taking Refuge for the first time or are already a practicing Buddhist.  It is possible to take new precepts and also to renew any you already have.

This day is the 15th lunar day of Saga Dawa, when we commemorate the Birth, Enlightenment and Parinirvana of Lord Buddha.  It is considered to be one of the most sacred and auspicious days in the Buddhist calendar, when it is particularly beneficial to engage in positive actions.  Therefore the Sangha will be reciting special prayers and everyone is most welcome to join them in making offerings to Lord Buddha.

Exact timings will be announced later.

Please inform the Bookings Team (bookings@samyeling.org) if you are planning to take refuge.
