Winter opening

Winter opening

Now that winter is upon us, Samye Ling's programme of weekend courses will be much reduced.

Like everyone we have been hit hard by escalating fuel and energy prices and have struggled to keep all our large buildings heated during the cold winter months.  So we have taken the difficult decision to close much of our guest accommodation this winter.

There will still be guest accommodation available in our wonderful 'Retreat Rooms' block and also in Johnstone House, so guests will still be welcome to come to stay.

And there will still be a small selection of weekend courses, so do check our Courses page.

In the spring when the weather starts to get warmer we'll re-open all accommodation and resume our full course programme.

We're also working on improving insulation and looking at alternative renewable energy sources so that we'll be better equipped in future years.

Meanwhile, if you visit Samye Ling to have a look around and find that our cafe is closed, we'd like you to know that the Tea Room in Johnstone House is always open.  You are welcome to come and help yourself to a hot drink and enjoy it in comfort in the adjacent pleasant and spacious sitting area.
