Opening the Grounds from the 17th March
Dear Friends,
The Trustees of Rokpa Trust met recently and decided that as the Covid 19 situation is improving, it is now safe to continue re-opening Samye Ling.
Already the main temple has been open daily since November 2021, and from 17th March 2022 we will open the grounds – but not the café or shop – for day visitors.
We hope to gradually open for guests, though, with safety in mind, this will be gradual. On the weekend of 18th March, a small number of MSc students from Aberdeen University will stay over to participate in a Mindfulness course. If this goes well we would like to re-open our guest-booking system.
However, for the time being we will not be arranging courses and plan to reintroduce this slowly if or when it becomes clear that there is no risk to guests or to our residents.
You may know that we have used the lockdown to renovate some of our guest accommodation and this is not yet completed so we have some work still to do before we can offer the range of rooms that were available before. However, we hope that everyone will appreciate the improved facilities in the future.
We request that both guests and day visitors still take every precaution against possible Covid infection, especially to wear a face mask whenever possible, and we will do our best to offer face masks and hand sanitiser, insofar as we are able.
In accordance with the current guidance from the Scottish Government, guests staying overnight will be asked to take a lateral flow test three days prior to arrival and a second test on the day of arrival. For day visitors who are not using the facilities in the dining room area or Johnstone House, the requirement for lateral flow testing will not apply.
We look forward to welcoming you to Samye Ling and hope you will be happy to accept these safety precautions.
We also hope that there will be no need for future lockdowns!
With very best wishes from
The Samye Ling Management Team
