Looking back over 2024....

8 Dec 2024

A very brief recap of events in 2024

2024 was a wonderful year in Samye Ling  - we had the amazing good fortune to receive continuous Dharma teachings from May right through until the end of October, with a succession of excellent and inspiring teachers.  Teachings were given by

  • Drupon Khen Rinpoche, Karma Lhabu, who taught during the 4th UK Kagyu Monlam in May and again during the Akong Rinpoche Memorial Retreat in October,
  • Khenpo Lekthong, who taught in May and June
  • Khenpo Tashi, in June and July
  • Khenpo Dradul, in July and August
  • Khenpo Ghawang in August, September and early October
  • and last but by no means least, Tulku Damcho Rinpoche who gave a series of empowerments and teachings in late October.

As with all dharma teachings in Samye Ling, there has been no charge for these teachings.

We hope and pray we will be able to offer even more dharma teachings and events in 2025, though due to the need for visas and co-ordinating travel, and so on, it may take some time to finalise dates.  We will do our best to keep you informed and meanwhile please be patient with us and keep checking our course programme for news.

Nyungney Retreat

In March 2024 Lama Karma Dondam led 8 sets of the Nyungney fasting practice which is aimed at developing compassion.  We are delighted that Lama Dondam will come again in 2025 to lead another Nyungney Retreat, from 13th to 29th March 2026.

And...

We'd also like you to know that we've done our best to make dharma teachings available to everyone whatever their financial situation.  In 2024 we provided 658 bed-nights free of charge or by donation as well as 1,081 meals.

Already confirmed in 2025

  • The 5th UK Kagyu Monlam will take place in Samye Ling from 30th May until 5th June 2025 and, as always, everyone is welcome.
  • On 11th June, our Abbot Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche will conduct a Refuge Ceremony.
  • The Samye Ling Annual Open Day and Tea Party will be on Sunday 24th August 2025
  • 8th October 2025 will be the 12th anniversary of our precious Founder, Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche's passing and we will announce events and activities to mark that date whenever they are confirmed.

Meanwhile we wish you all a happy and meaningful year in 2025
