Introduction to Buddhism - Part 1

7:00pm 08 September 2023 - 5:30pm 10 September 2023

Cost: £0.00

Venue: Samye Ling

We live in a very challenging age of widespread insecurity. Many of us are searching for a kind of guidance that Buddhism can reveal. Buddhism has what we need and has been helping people for over two and a half millennia. Through the practise of wisdom and compassion we can come to realise our own inner wealth and potential.

This course, extended over two weekends, will outline the basics of Buddhism, especially in terms of core principles: refuge, bodhicitta (awakening our potential), the four noble truths, the six paramitas, and freedom from unnecessary suffering.

All are welcome.  The program will be experience-based in each of the above areas and not just the relay of information. It could be especially relevant to those who wish to take refuge.

Weekend 1: Introduction to Hinayana Buddhism - 8th to 10th September

Weekend 2: Introduction to Mahayana Buddhism - 17th to 19th November.  Bookings for this weekend are not yet open and are planned to open in September.

To book a place on the course (with or without accommodation), please email bookings@samyeling.org
