Becoming the Seer Easter Retreat
7:00pm 18 April 2025 - 12:30pm 21 April 2025
Cost: £100.00
Venue: Samye Ling
With the arrival of Spring and Easter this retreat offers the possibility of recovery, renewal and regeneration. Using a variety of traditional yoga preparations and practices we will learn how recognising awareness and simply being offers us the opportunity to let go of busyness, return to centre and start afresh.
There will be an even balance of breath work, movement, relaxation and meditation. This retreat is open to everyone so the posture work is slow and gentle and therefore suitable for complete beginners and those with conditions for which strenuous exercise is not advised;
Breath work; breath awareness, abdominal breathing, viloma, full yogic breath, alternate nostril breathing and ujjayi pranayama.
Movement; joint releasing sequences, spinal movements, hip opening series, back and abdominal strengthening.
Relaxation;
Yoga nidra -a withdrawal of the senses leading to deep relaxation and conscious sleep
Yoga nyasa - directed awareness synchronised with breath.
Meditation;
Kaya sthairyam - body stillness,
Antar mouna – the practice of inner silence
Ajapa japa - mantra synchronised with breath
Chidekasha dharana - awareness of the mind space.
Complete beginners as well as more experienced practitioners and teachers are all welcome.
The course begins after supper at 7pm on the Friday. Saturday and Sunday sessions will be 10.00 am to 12.30 pm and 3.00 pm to 5.30 pm with breaks. Monday will be 10.00 am to 12.30 pm with a break with the course finishing in time for lunch.
NOTE: Please bring comfortable layers of clothing so that you can move freely yet remain warm. The joint releasing movements can actually lower body temperature. Please bring your own mat, sitting block or cushion and a blanket.
Bookings for this course will open on 25th February 2025, when you will be able to book your place on the course and also guest accommodation by sending an email to bookings@samyeling.org.
