Trish Swift

Trish Swift is a practising psychotherapist in Harare, Zimbabwe. She lives at the Buddhist Centre which she initiated on the advice of Akong Tulku Rinpoche. Previously, Trish lectured at the Jesuit School of Social Work affiliated to the University of Zimbabwe.

In 1988, after attending the Samye Ling Temple opening, Trish was introduced to Tara Rokpa Therapy by Edie Irwin. Edie visited Zimbabwe later that year and established a Tara Rokpa  ‘Back to Beginnings’ group in which Trish participated.

In 1990 Trish spent a six-month sabbatical at Samye Ling which included a three month retreat. At the end of the retreat, Akong Rinpoche directed Trish to start a Tara Rokpa group in Nairobi, Kenya.

Thereafter, Trish became known as the Tara Rokpa therapist for Africa, working in collaboration with visiting therapists from the UK, Ireland and Germany. In addition to Kenya, Trish established Tara Rokpa groups in Malawi, Botswana and South Africa.
