Khenpo Karma Drodul

Khenpo Karma Drodul became a monk in 1992 and spent the next seven years studying Buddhist rituals and meditation.  Following this, he received full Bikkhu ordination from V. Ven Thrangu Rinpoche in 2005.

He spent five years studying at Vajra Vidya Institute, Sarnath in India and after graduating in 2005, was appointed as tutor to young monks in the Institute.

Khenpo Drodul then spent two years as the Retreat Master at the Namo Buddha Retreat Centre before being appointed as the main teacher of Higher Buddhist Studies at Thrangu Tara Abbey.  He has continued teaching Buddhist philosophy and grammar to the nuns there until the present day.

In 2014 he was given the title of Khenpo by V V Thrangu Rinpoche.

Drawing on Jamgon Kongtrul’s ‘The Torch for the Definitive Meaning’, Gampopa’s ‘Precious Ornament of Liberation’, ‘The Words of my Perfect Teacher’ by Patrul Rinpoche, the 9th Gyalwang Karmapa’s ‘The Ocean of Definitive Meaning’ and his own commentary, Khenpo Karma Dradul gave extensive and detailed teachings on the Mahamudra Common Preliminaries: ‘The Four Thoughts that Turn the Mind’ over a period of 8 weeks.
