The Practice of Moving into Stillness

Category: Yoga

Dates: November 12, 2010 - November 14, 2010

Venue: Samye Ling

Course Leader: Hanna Casement

Price: £62.00

Looking at the ancient Yoga Sutras of Patanjali we can see that Yoga is more than just a physical exercise, but a way of moving towards a point of stillness within in order to prepare us for meditation.

This workshop takes us on a deeper journey into our Yoga practice to use it as a way of focussing the mind and preparing the body for meditation, as well as using the postures as a form of moving meditation.

Using asana (postures), breath work, sound, relaxation, and some study of the philosophy of Yoga, we will explore moving towards that point of stillness that is the essence of Yoga as it was outlined by the great sage Patanjali.

The weekend aims to provide some foundation for us to develop more awareness in ourselves, to develop a more rounded understanding of the path of Yoga, and to develop a more meditative approach when we practice our Yoga.

Open to yoga students with a minimum of 1 years yoga practice.
